i wrote a poem last night…
above, photo of a barn owl i captured at the Duncan Raptor Centre…
a sweet permission
when the world hums so damn loud
when it rushes, clatters, spills over, messy
when the sky seems too full of voices, chaotic
when the road stretches long, uncaring and unkind
it’s okay to just pause, stop
explore the hush between the heavys
say hello to your breath indwelling, singing within your ribs
like a bird trembling you must have forgotten you were holding way too tight
inhale the whispering hush, the small kindness of spirit-air
exhale the weight you were never meant to carry alone
it’s too easy to forget that you are more than the rush
more than the noise, more than the world pressing in
let this be your sweet permission
to pause, to soften, surrendering
to exist without any demand
to just breathe
kindly, just be
